Ciara is a qualified Senior Clinical Psychologist with experience working with women of all ages. She has worked in the NHS for over 9 years and in addition to her private work, she continues to work in the NHS with adults presenting with complex and enduring mental health difficulties. She has a particular interest in supporting women to navigate their mental health and wellbeing through the lifespan. She understands that relationships, making fertility choices, the beginning, middle and end of our reproductive years (especially menopause), intimacy, and loss, can result in anxiety, worry, trauma, and complex emotions.
Ciara's therapeutic work is influenced by her passion for Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), having completed additional post-doctoral training with the Compassionate Mind Foundation. She offers evidence-based psychological therapies for adults aged 18 years or above, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Ciara has also recently completed training in the EMBERS® Menopause-Informed CBT framework at Menopause CBT Clinic®, equipping her with a specialised approach to supporting women through the menopause transition.
Ciara works with individuals who are experiencing a range of psychological difficulties, such as: depression/low mood, anxiety disorders (e.g., phobias, panic, health anxiety, social anxiety, OCD), low self-esteem, trauma related difficulties (including PTSD), interpersonal difficulties, and disordered eating. She draws from a range of therapies to develop a fully individual and integrated approach best suited to the needs of each client. Ciara is a warm, compassionate therapist who offers a safe, non-judgemental environment to work with clients to reduce their experience of psychological distress.
She is a Chartered Member and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and a registered Practitioner (Clinical) Psychologist with the Health & Care Professions Council. She can provide remote therapy and face to face therapy in Glasgow.
